Gomatgiri is a small hillock near Indore. It is situated amidst picturesque surroundings. Just 10 minutes drive from the Indore airport, Gomatgiri is a pious place for the Jain religion devotees. There is a 21 feet statue of Gomateshwar built here. It is a replica of the Bahubali statue of Shrawanbegola. There are also 24 marble temples with shikhars. Each one of these temples is dedicated to the one of the 24 Tirthankaras of Jain religion. This hillock was donated to the Jain Samaj by the M.P government in 1981. For the convenience of the visitors, there is a guest house, a dharamshala and a restaurant here.

Gomatgiri hillock was donated to the Jain Samaj by the M.P government in 1981. In the year 1981 MP government decided to donate a Hilltop to the Jain Samaj. The Jains made a 21 feet high statue of lord Gomateshwar, this statue is an repetation of the Bahubali statue of Shrawanbegola. There are also 24 marble temples with shikhars which are dedicated to the 24 Thirthankars of Jainism are seen here.

It is directly linked to Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Jaipur, Raipur, Nagpur and Bhopal, via major airlines. There are various airlines operating from Indore. Located to the west of the Island the lagoon is best suited for swimming, kayaking, wind surfing and canoeing. Jamnath mosque is a massive structure having the largest tank of any mosque in the islands. Mohidden Mosque is an ancient mosque that lies to the North- West of Kavaratti. One of the oldest and most striking is the Ujra mosque built by Sheikh Mohammad Kasim. The 17th century structure has an ornate ceiling, said to have been carved out of a single of driftwood.

Mount Harriet, stationed at 55 km by road and 15 km by ferry from Port Blair is the highest peak (365 m high) in South Andaman. Its natural charm and beauty attracts a lot of visitors. From the top of the peak, one can get a magnificent view of the Port Blair city, the Ross Island and the Havelock Island. Ferry or taxi service is available from Chatnam wharf to Bamboo flat. From here vehicles can be taken to reach Mt. Harriet. Trekking up to Madhuban through a natural trail allows you to get a glimpse of rare endemic birds, animals & butterflies. An overnight stay at the guest house there will be great to experience the beauty of the night in the hilly land. But for staying overnight, permission of the warden at Port Blair is required.

The breeded crocodiles can be spotted in the wild waters surrounded by dense green forests. The Zoo is credited with about 200 species of birds and animals. All common birds and animals are allowed to live in this zoo. Andaman pig and Nicobar pigeon are two rare species of animals which can be spotted here.

Jolly Buoy Island, is located inside the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park and flaunts of having almost white sand beach with canopies and dense bushes. A mixture of both shallow and deep waters, the island is perfect for snorkeling and scuba diving. Rich in colorful and beautiful fauna, the underwater marine life here is fantastic. Jolly Buoy can be easily accessed by boats from Wandoor, which is 30 km from Port Blair. It will take around one hour to reach the island from Wandoor. Visitors can enjoy the island upto 2.00pm and the return journey starts at 2.00 or 2.30pm. Jolly buoy island will not be opened throughout the year as it is protected for live corals. Before planning your Andaman & Nicobar trip, make sure that Jolly buoy island is open for visitors (if you are planning to see this island). When the Jolly buoy island is closed for visitors, usually Red skin island will be opened for visitors. So at any time of the year either of the one island is opened for visitors.

  • People have to carry swim suits or other wears suitable for Snorkelling and scuba diving. Carry some News papers or bed sheets which will help in relaxing in this place while sitting and also for taking food. In Jolly buoy island nothing is available. Visitors are supposed to carry all items required for them like, food, water etc…

  • Jolly buoy is a No Plastic zone. Before leaving to Jolly buoy island, people have to submit the list of all plastic items at Wandoor beach. They have to deposit a security amount of INR 100 against each plastic item. They will get the amount back after returning against producing the same items. Additional amount is also to be paid for each still and video camera. There are not shelter to take care of yourself during rainy season. So avoid going to this place during rainy days. Don’t forget to clean the place and collect all wastages and put it in a waste box or cover and bring these back.
