Charanpaduka is a beautiful rock, which holds the foot prints of Lord Vishnu. It is 3km away from Badrinath temple. The famed rock grabs the attention of the tourists all around the world. An elevated site at a height of 3380 feet, this place beholds enchanting beauty and serenity. Though the uphill path is quite a risky and arduous one, the scenic ambiance and the holy darshan of the Lord footprints would retrieve all the ailments and troubles from the devotees. The popular belief is that Lord Vishnu set his foot on earth through this point. Bhagwat Purana says that Lord Sri Krishna advised his minister Uddhav to proceed to Badrinath with his Charan Paduka and assured him that the mere glance of Alakhnanda would cleanse off his all wrongdoings. While making a visit to this place, you can see those finger prints on the stones of the rock. This Chranpaduka is situated around 1.5 km away from Banganga. The rock holds a medical unit of shrine board. This medical unit is well equipped and it holds all basic medical amenities. A practiced and professional medical staff is also there to take care in case of troubles.

The trek to Satopanth starts from Mana, 3 km ahead of Badrinath. Crossing the river, we have to trek the regular trekking route to Vasudhara, the trail ascends higher and one sees Vasudhara Falls at a distance on the other bank of Alakananda River. Then crossing a dangerous glacier, the local name of which is Dhano Glacier, one reaches Laxmivan, 5 km ahead of Vasudhara. The night stay is done at caves or tents, which is very essential on the route. Laxmiban is 13 km from Badrinath. The next day, if one starts early they can reach Chakratirth 5 km ahead, by crossing the Dhano Glacier, at mid-day. After taking a nap, one should immediately start for Sahasradara, 3 km ahead. The Satopanth Top from where Kuber Glacier, and Kuber Top is visible, is only 3 km from Sahasradhara. The back face of Mt. Nilkantha is visible from here. From here Satopanth Tal is only a 2 km trek

Narad Kund is situated in the religious town of Badrinath in the state of Uttarakhand in India. Badrinath is one of the most important religious places in India and Narad Kund is the second biggest attraction in Badrinath after the main temple. A holy site from where Adi Sankara recovered the idol of lord Vishnu, Narad Kund is one of the most revered centers in Badrinath. It is a recess in the Alakananda river and is naturally sheltered by a rock with projecting angles. This prevents the flow of the water current and provides suitable surroundings for a nice bath. Water in Narada Kund is so hot that it would not be advisable to take long baths in the pond. It is also said that Narad Muni (another very important saint / religious figure in Hinduism) wrote Narad Bhakti Sutra at Narad Kund and thus it got its name. Legends has it that when Shiva chopped of the fifth head of Brahma, it got stuck to his trident. Lastly with the blessing of Lord Vishnu at Badrivan, the head of Brahma fell down from the trident at this place & hence the name Brahma-Kapal (head).

Tapt Kundis said that pleased with Agni dev’s (Fire God’s) penance, Lord Vishnu had granted him a boon to permanently reside in the form of this kund here and burn away the sins of all His devotees. Devotees take a holy dip in the natural thermal springs on the banks of river Alaknanda, before entering the Badrinath Temple. The water of the kund is believed to have medicinal properties.

Saraswati river is the Bhim Pul, another major attraction of the town. It is a natural bridge built from a huge rock by the Pandava brother Bhima for his wife Draupadi. Lying in the interial corners of the town, it is believed that this was the place from where the Pandava brothers started their ‘accent to heaven’ (swargarohini). During their transit, Draupadi was unable to cross the river and hence Bhima lifted a huge rock and placed it here which today is known as the Bhim Pul. Had never seen a natural rock bridge before! The waters, the rock bridge… everything just completed the entire beautiful picture! One wasn’t allowed going on that bridge since water was in full spate but even from far it looked very interesting and a bit frightening as well.

Badrinath is a holy town and a nagar panchayat in Chamoli district in the state of Uttarakhand, India. It is the most important of the four sites in India’s Char Dham pilgrimage and gets its name from the Holy temple of Badrinath. The Badrinath temple is the main attraction in the town. According to legend Shankara discovered a black stone image of Lord Badrinarayan made of Saligram stone in the Alaknanda River. He originally enshrined it in a cave near the Tapt Kund hot springs.
