Mukerti Lake has been constructed with a park and it is flocked by various species of birds. The water in the lake is a boon for the ducks living here and makes it an ideal environment for them. The lake also provides boating services to the visitors and people enjoy boating in the lake after taking a walk in the park. Nilgiri Thar also known as Hamitragus Hilocrius is the major attraction of this park. The park is full of Sambhar, barking deer, Nilgiri Marten, Otter, Jungle cats and Jackals. Some of the easily spotted birds include laughing and whistling thrushes, Woodcock, Wild pigeon and Black Eagle. A great variety of butterflies including the blue admiral, Indian Red Admiral, Indian Cabbage White, Hedge Blues, Rainbow trouts and the Indian Fritillary can also be spotted in the park.

Dolphin’s Nose, Visakhapatnam,  is a huge rock land resembling the shape of a dolphin’s nose, and an eye-catching attraction in Visakhapatnam. The headland is 174 meters high and at an altitude of 358 meters, projecting into the sea. It is a single and gigantic hillock shaped like a dolphin’s nose owing to natural process hence the name Dolphin’s Nose. It guards the Visakhapatnam harbour and paves the way for sea water coming into the land area thus facilitating anchoring of ships. A renowned powerful light house is positioned on the summit of the hill and guides the approaching ships to Visakhapatnam. The light house is useful for shippers as it gives out a light beam that could be seen as far as 65kms out at sea and flashes every 10 seconds. Other attractions on the hill and nearby are the Ross Hill, the highest peak of this place which also has a church named St John’s Church, Dargah Konda hill, which has a mosque cum dargah named Ishq Madina, and Venkateshwara Konda hill, which has a temple of Lord Venkateshwara.

Bavikonda, Visakhapatnam,  is one of the prominent attractions, Being a popular Buddhist excavation site, the place is known as a Buddhist heritage spot, which reveals history, of before 2,000 years. The architectural remnants of the Buddhist period are earliest of its kind in South India and are prime attraction of the place. The place houses different varieties of bricks that are used for construction and groups of Buddhist monuments, which are found during excavations in 1906. The architectural remnants on the eastern hill include a series of rock-cut caves, numerous groups of monolithic dagobas and a rock-cut stupa with extensive structural remains. Apart from this, a stairway is also found, which leads up to a double-storeyed cave. The entrance of the cave is adorned with huge dwarapalas that are located on each side of the doorway. Being rectangular in shape, the cave chamber is segmented into 20 compartments by four cross rocks of 16 massive pillars. Besides this, the place is also famous for housing the ancient statues of Buddha in various postures.

Upper Bhavani Lake, the route is replete with sholas trees and the entire area is a wildlife habitat. Tourists can go for trekking from Bangithapal through Sispara to the Silent Valley. For trekking in this region, it is necessary to get permission from the forest department. There is a huge dam on this lake, which is the major source of water for the nearby regions. There is a wildlife sanctuary at this place, which covers an area of 70 sq. km and is home to Nilgiri Tahr. This sanctuary also features sambhar, giant squirrels, leopards, tigers, jungle cats, wild dogs and jackals, among others. The entire region of Upper Bhavani, which gets over 5000 mm of annual rainfall, is dominated by the sholas and wattle plantations. This place is the perfect location for hiking, trekking and walking holidays. With the reservoir in the backdrop, there are few guest houses in Upper Bhavani for overnight stays.

Taxi : Ooty is well connected by a road network and national highways 67. The tourist can reach to Ooty by taxi. The normal Indian taxi charges of Rupees 8 to 20 will be charged for each km.

Bus : Ooty is well connected with all most all south Indian cities by bus. There are regular bus services from Mysore (Rs 300), Bangalore (Rs 600), Chennai (Rs 650) and also from many cities in Kerala. State owned and private vehicles ply on this route. Many tourist services providers offer package trips to Ooty from many south Indian cities. These will charge about Rs 4 per km.

Train : The hill station of Ooty has a railway station of its own. It is called the Udhagamandalam railway station and can be reached by The Nilgiri Mountain Railway (a.k.a. Toy Train) from Mettupalayam which is 47 km away from Ooty, is the nearest major railway station. There are regular train services from Coimbatore and Chennai to Mettupalayam. Air : There is no airport in ooty. Coimbatore airport is the nearest airport and is around 105 km from Ooty. A number of private airlines give provide services to Coimbatore.
