Siddh Baba Ka Mandir is a noted religious centre of Chail, nestled on the hill between Rajgarh and Pandhawa. It is said that Bhupinder Singh, the Maharaja of Patiala, wanted to construct a palace here, when a sage appeared in his dreams and asked him to build a temple instead. Thereafter, the king built this temple, which became Popular as Siddh Baba Ka Mandir. The beautiful surroundings of the temple serve as a picnic spot.

According to legend, Maharaja Bhupinder Singh wanted to build his palace at this palace and had already started construction. However, even after repeated attempt, the construction could be completed.During this period, a saint appeared in his dream informing him that this is the site where he meditated and was buried underneath. The saint told him to stop the construction of his palace and instead, build a temple. Hence, the Maharaja built a temple to honour the saint and called it as the Sidh Baba Ka Mandir.

A former hunting ground of the Maharaja of Patiala, Chail Wildlife Sanctuary is amongst the lesser known wildlife sanctuaries in the country. It is situated 63 km from Shimla in Himachal Pradesh. Chail is one of the most well maintained wildlife sanctuaries and houses a rich collection of flora and fauna. Situated in the Himalayan ranges at a height of 7152 feet, Chail boasts of salubrious climate, magnificent views and a rich cover of greenery. The sanctuary is a paradise for nature lovers and bird watchers.The wildlife sanctuary is located on the outskirts of Chail that overlooks the Sutlej Valley. Along with Shimla and Kufri, Chail forms the Golden Triangle of Himachal Pradesh. Chail Wildlife Sanctuary is home to a variety of fauna and flora. Some of the most Popular animal species of the park includes European red deer, wild boar, goral, spotted deer, sambar, common langur, Himalayan black bear, flying squirrel, Indian porcupine, etc. The European red deer was introduced in the park by the then Maharaja of Patiala Bhupinder Singh, almost hundred years ago. The park is also home to a variety of birds. Chir pheasant and Khalij pheasant are the most Popular birds that can be sighted in the sanctuary. Golden eagle and grey headed flycatcher flying in the sky offer a majestic sight.

Chail Wildlife Sanctuary once served as the hunting ground of Maharaja of Patiala Bhupinder Singh. Maharaja Bhupinder Singh founded the hill station of Chail after he was banished from entering Shimla following his elopement with the daughter of Lord Kitchener, Commander-in-Chief of the British Indian Army. In 1976, the 110 sq km area of Chail forest was declared as a wildlife sanctuary.

According to local people, Lord Karna’s blessings help them to solve legal matters and family disputes.The temple is crowded on Sundays. Every year, a fair is held here on the day of Sankranti. The temple offers views of the Karsog Valley on one side and the northern Himalayas on the other.
