The Anne & Father Fisher Fine Arts Library, conjointly referred to as the Furness Library, is found on the field of the University of Pennsylvania, on the side of school inexperienced. Designed by the acclaimed metropolis creator Frank Furness (1839–1912), the red arenaceous rock, brick-and-terra-cotta Venetian Gothic giant—part defence and half cathedral—was designed to be the first library of the University, and to accommodate its anthropology assortment. The cornerstone was set in Gregorian calendar month 1888, construction was completed in late 1890, and therefore the building was dedicated in February 1891.
