Waterville may be a town in Kennebec County, Maine, us, on the West Bank of the Kennebec watercourse. Home to Colby faculty and Thomas faculty, Waterville is that the regional industrial, medical and cultural center. The town would be organized as Kingfield Plantation, then incorporated in 1771 as Edward Winslow. Waterville was depart from Edward Winslow and incorporated on Midsummer Night, 1802 once residents on the side of the Kennebec found themselves unable to cross the watercourse to attend city conferences. In 1824, a bridge was engineered to Edward Winslow. Early industries enclosed fishing, lumbering, agriculture and ship building, with larger boats launched in spring throughout freshets. By the first decennary, there have been 5 shipyards within the community.
