Biosphere two is associate degree Earth systems science research center owned by the University of Arizona. Its current mission is to function a middle for analysis, outreach, teaching and womb-to-tomb learning regarding Earth, its living systems, and its place within the universe.
It is a 3.14-acre (12,700 m2)structure originally designed to be a man-made, materially closed ecological system in Oracle, Arizona (US) by area region Ventures, a venture whose principal officers were John P. Allen, discoverer and administrator, and Margret St. Augustine, CEO. With a size resembling 2 and a 0.5 soccer fields, it remains the most important closed system ever created. The glass facility is elevated nearly four,000 feet on top of water level at the bottom of the Catalina Island Mountains, a few 0.5 hour outside of metropolis.
After a victorious turnaround by Bannon & Co. In December of 1995 the region two house owners transferred management to Columbia University of recent royal line town that began a victorious eight year run at the region two field.The above-ground organic structure of region two was manufactured from steel conduit and superior glass and steel frames.
