The Bagg Street Shul or letter of the alphabet Shloime (formally Congregation Temple Solomon) is Associate in Nursing Orthodox tabernacle operational within the city upland region of city, Quebec, Canada.In the early decennium, oil-fired by significant immigration, Jews established an outsized community in Montreal’s upland region, around Saint Laurent avenue.
The synagogue’s building, a red-brick duplex on Clark Street, was created in 1899. The congregation purchased the building and captive there in 1922. The sanctuary seats 350. The Torah ark, marble stairway, pews, bimah article of furniture, and chandeliers were captive to the tabernacle from the McGill school location of the Shaar Hashomayim tabernacle. This stuff were purchased from the Shaar Hashomayim in 1918 for $1,500 ($20,200 today).
The Bagg Street Shul remains the oldest tabernacle still operational with its original congregation in its original location in Quebec. The building is recognized as a spiritual historical web site by the Quebec government.
