The mesmerizing journey through the frozen Zanskar River is in fact a voyage to the heart of this isolated place.With its magnificent glaciers, deep woods, enchanting valleys and tedious trekking paths, Zanskar valley presents an enjoyable outlook of nature. Zanskar has a pleasantly warm and dry climate in the summers. Winters are long extending from September to February and are very harsh with heavy snowfalls. Summers are beautiful with glaciers melting with warm temperature. The Zanskar (Karsha Gustor) Festival, a famous Buddhists festival during January, is an attractive festival with a special dance known as Black Hat Dance performance.

By Air : Leh is the nearest airport to Zanskar. Leh is well connected to major Indian cities like Jammu, Srinagar and Delhi. Different airlines give their service to Leh. Taxis are available and fare about Rs 1,000 to reach airport from town.

By Train : Nearest railway station is Jammu. Jammu railway station is about 734 km from Leh. Jammu railway station is well connected to major Indian cities. Taxis are available from Jammu to Zanskar.

By BUS : Jammu Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation provides regular bus service from Srinagar to Znaskar. From Leh to Zanskar government buses and luxuary coaches are also available. Luxury coaches are available from Kargil to Zanskar, which is about 235 km away. This costs about Rs 1,000 per person.

By Taxi : Taxis and Auto rickshaws are easily available for moving about in the city.
