Detail InformationEdit
The history of the palace dates back to 1677. It was built from the initiative of Johann Heinrich Duennewald. The legend says that it was built for ransom money of Turkish Pasha captured by Emperor’s general. The complex is similar to the French early baroque residence. The interior is baroque. The palace is surrounded by a moat (3 m deep) and 15 m wide. Behind there is a huge park (20 hectares) bordering with Liwno Lake. You may find many old trees in the park. The owners of the palace changed quite often. Among them there was: Frederick August Cosel and family von Schoenaich – Carolath. Presently the palace houses the medical centre (hospital) for the children and the youth which has the St. John’s Order (Maltese Kinghts) as the patron.
