Yüreğir is a district in the Adana Province of Turkey. It lies east of the Seyhan River, south and west of Sarıçam and north of Yumurtalık. Large portion of the district is within the city of Adana, incorporated as a lower-tier municipality.
The area contains a number of sites of historical interest; bridges, burial mounds, mosaics, waterworks, mosques, baths, and a stone caravanserai. The name comes from the first Turks to settle in the Çukurova. The Yüreğir were a branch of the Oğuz Turks, from whom most Turkish people today are descended.Yüreğir district is administered by three levels of government; central government, provincial administration and the municipalities.
