Yerevan, the capital of Armenia is dotted with numerous religious and historical monuments that tell tales of the cities rich historical past and attracts tourists from all corners of the globe. The cultural heritage of Armenia is finely depicted in the theatre galleries, museums, monuments, libraries and churches spread all around the city. The prominent among these are : The National Gallery of Armenia, History Museum of Armenia, the Cafesjian Museum of Art, the Matenadaran library of ancient manuscripts, and the Armenian Genocide museum.
The ancient Erebuni Fortress built during the 8th century B.C by King Arghishti is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Yerevan.A tour to the city is incomplete without visiting the Republican Square that was named Hanrapetutyan Haraparak and is the center for numerous processions, celebrations and ceremonies.
Yerevan has an extensive nightlife scene with a variety of night clubs, live venues, street cafes, jazz cafes, tea houses, casinos, pubs, karaoke clubs and restaurants. Many cafés and restaurants stay open into the late hours as the warm summer evenings bring tourists to the relaxing cafes. The swan lake next to the Opera House, is one of the major night-life areas with hundreds of open top and indoor cafés to choose from.
