Yellowknife is that the capital and largest town of the territorial dominion (NWT), Canada. It’s settled on the northern shore of nice Slave Lake, some four hundred metric linear unit (250 mi) south of the Arctic Circle, on the side of town Bay close to the outlet of the town watercourse. Town and its encompassing water bodies were named when an area Dene tribe once referred to as the ‘Copper Indians’ or ‘Yellowknife Indians’ United Nations agency listed tools made of copper deposits close to the Arctic Coast.Of the eleven official languages of the territorial dominion, 5 ar spoken in important numbers in Yellowknife: Dene Suline, Dogrib, South and North domestic, English, and French.
Yellowknife was initial settled in 1935, when gold had been found within the area; town shortly became the centre of economic activity within the NWT, and have become the capital of the territorial dominion in 1967. As gold production began to wane, town shifted from being a mining city to being a centre of presidency services within the Eighties. However, with the invention of diamonds north of town in 1991, this shift has begun to reverse.
Traditionally, initial Nations individuals had occupied this region; by the Nineteen Thirties they’d a settlement on a degree of land on the side of town Bay, Dettah. The present municipal space of town was occupied by prospectors United Nations agency ventured into the region within the mid-1930
