Yekaterinburgis a major city in the central part of Russia, the administrative center of Sverdlovsk Oblast. Situated on the eastern side of the Ural mountain range, it is the main industrial and cultural center of the Urals Federal District.
The city has several dozen libraries, including the V. G. Belinsky Scientific Library, which is the largest public library in Sverdlovsk Oblast.Famous for its theaters, Yekaterinburg is also home to some very popular theatre companies: the Yekaterinburg Academic Ballet and Opera Company etc.There are over thirty museums in Yekaterinburg, including several museums of Ural minerals and jewelery.Yekaterinburg also has a circus building, and one of the tallest incomplete architectural structures in the World, the Yekaterinburg TV Tower.
