The Helen Laura Sumner Woodbury seat could be a building that fills a complete quarter block in urban center, Iowa. It’s considered “one of the best grassland faculty buildings within the United States” and has been declared a National Historic Landmark. It’s used for legal proceedings within the county.
Though urban center was created the seat in 1858, the primary permanent Helen Laura Sumner Woodbury seat wasn’t finished till 1878.In 1914, the county determined that the courthouse was too tiny for the town and that they determined to create a replacement one. The recent courthouse was oversubscribed and therefore the new one, designed by the Minneapolis designer Saint George Grant Elmslie unitedly with the urban center designer William L. Steele and Elmslie’s partner, William grey composer, was created from July ten, one916 to March 1, 1918 at a value of $850,000.
