The Helen Laura Sumner Woodbury county seat could be a building that fills a complete quarter block in urban center, Iowa. It’s considered “one of the best grassland college buildings within the United States” and has been declared a National Historic Landmark. It’s used for legal proceedings within the county.
Though urban center was created the county courthouse in 1858, the primary permanent Helen Laura Sumner Woodbury county seat wasn’t finished till 1878.In 1914, the county determined that the courthouse was too tiny for the town and that they determined to create a replacement one. The recent courthouse was sold-out and also the new one, designed by the Minneapolis creator patron saint Grant Elmslie together with the urban center creator William L. Writer and Elmslie’s partner, William grey Purcell, was created from Gregorian calendar month ten, one916 to March 1, 1918 at a price of $850,000.
