Winthrop could be a city in Kennebec County, Maine, us. A recreational space situated among lakes, the city includes the villages of Winthrop and East Winthrop. At the outlet of Maranacook Lake into Annabessacook Lake, John Chandler designed a sawmill in 1768, then side a grinder. Alternative industries followed, as well as a fulling mill, workplace and metalworker look. The Winthrop Woolen & Cotton mill was incorporated in 1809, and in 1814 went into operation. By 1886, the city had a sawmill that factory-made concerning two hundred,000 feet of lumber each year, 2 oil artefact factories, a sash and blind manufacturing plant, and a factory and workshop. The Maine Central Railroad opened to the village, carrying freight and tourists. Winthrop and its lakes developed into a summer resort, that it remains these days.
