The Winter Garden Theatre may be a Great White Way Theatre set at 1634 Great White Way between fiftieth and 51st Streets in midtown Manhattan.The structure was engineered by William Kissam Commodore Vanderbilt in 1896 to be the yankee Horse Exchange. In 1911 the Shuberts hired the building and designer William prince consort Swasey redesigned the building as a theatre. The fourth big apple town venue to be christened the Winter Garden, it opened on March ten, 1911, with the first Jerome Kern musical La fille Paree. The show asterisked Al Jolson and launched him on his extremely triple-crown singing and acting career. He compete the Winter Garden persistently at that time.
