The White River mess and Dormitory is that the solely remaining Civilian Conservation Corps camp structure remaining in Mount Rainier parkland. The wood-framed building was in-built 1933, and contains 2185 sq. Feet, originally containing a room eating area, front room, 2 bogs, a chamber and a bunkroom, likewise as a service structure. The building not is a residence and is employed for storage. It’s settled at the White River entrance to the park, a part of a fancy of service buildings.
The mess was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March thirteen, 1991. It’s enclosed within the White River Entrance Historic District. It’s a part of the Mount Rainier National Historic Landmark District, that encompasses the complete park and that acknowledges the park’s inventory of Park Service-designed rustic design.
