The Western Union Building in the big apple town was designed by Saint George B. Post, and was completed in 1875. This building was placed at 195 street, and served as a headquarters for the Western Union telegraph company from 1875 till its destruction in 1914. It absolutely was 230 feet high, and had 10 floors, wherever a hundred telegraph operators worked twenty four hours daily. The building was flat-topped by a tower, and a few claim that this building was the primary building in the big apple.
Beginning in 1877, a ball was born from the highest of the building at specifically time of day, triggered by a telegraph from the National Observatory in Washington, D.C.
