Wemindji could be a tiny Cree community on Paint Hills Bay off James Bay at the mouth of the Maquatua watercourse in Quebec, Canada. Wemindji could be a fairly new community comprising Cree families originally living at the outlet on Associate in Nursing island within the Vieux-Comptoir watercourse, called “Vieux-Comptoir” or its English equivalent “Old Factory”.
This post was based within the seventeenth century and was alternately beneath British or French management. In 1959 the community was resettled regarding forty five metric linear unit north to its gift location. The present chief is Rodney Mark.Wemindji is accessible by air (Wemindji Airport) and, since 1995, by automobile over a gravel road linking it to the James Bay Road.
