Washim is a city in the Washim District of the state of Maharashtra. It is an old city with a rich cultural heritage. The place was called as Vatsalgulma and was ruled by the Vakataka Dynasty and some of their influences can be seen in the layout. There are a few places that one can visit in the city and some of the interesting places are the, and the Jain Mandir. The Shivaji Chowk is an old market and has been around for many years. The architecture of some of the buildings is also unique and one can see different influences in the city of Washim. The Balaji Temple is an old building and was built in the 18th century. One can see many devotees in this place for most parts of the year. The Shirpur Jain Temple is one of the most important centers for pilgrimage in the area. Many Jain devotees can be seen in the temple. During the months of October and November, one can see an increased number of devotees, as this is the festival time. Other places that are located near the city are Shegaon, Lonar and Chilkaldara and a few other towns.

By Air : The closest airport is located at Aurangabad and there are a few flights that operate from the airport. The nearest major airport is located at Mumbai and taxis are available from both the places. They charge around Rs 7 per km for non A/C sedans. SUVs are also available.

By Train : The city is well connected by its railway station and there are frequent trains that arrive from different parts of the state. The station is connected to cities such as Jaipur and Mumbai. Taxis and autos are available from outside the station. Auto rickshaws are the best way to reach the city center and prices are negotiable.

By BUS : Buses are available from Mumbai to the city of Washim. Both government run buses and private buses are available. Private buses are more comfortable and the distance is around 580 km and the travel time is around 10 hours. Private buses cost around Rs 400 for the trip and these are a comfortable option.

By Taxi : Taxis and Auto rickshaws are easily available for moving about in the city.
