Villianur place has an old Sri Gokilambal Thirukameshwar Temple, which represents an amazing architecture style. There is an annual car festival held at this temple, which attracts large number of travellers across the world. This car festival is celebrated annually in the mid May, depending on the appearance of the full moon. A 15 metre high, beautifully decorated temple chariot is taken out in a procession during this car festival, which is pulled by thousands of devotees. Villianur is also known for its numerous tourist sites such as Ezhai Mariamman Temple, St. Lourde’s Church, Varadaraja Perumal Temple and Swami Ram Paradesi Temple. Besides, it is also a popular picnic spot, which can be reached easily from the main town of Pondicherry.
