Detail InformationEdit

The Village museum is a reconstructed Icelandic seashore village from the turn of the century in 1900 located in the old fish freezing plant in EYRARBAKKI. The Village museum will in addition to showing the architectural style and the people’s way of life from that era also preserve the history of vocational education, technical culture and industry in Iceland. In an animate and creative manner the public will have an opportunity to return to the past and in a direct way be able to participate in the daily life of the villagers. That way the link between each generation will be strengthened and historical traditions will be maintained so that the know-how and technical skills can be preserved generation after generation. The turn of the century Village is presently in its drawing-board stage with a 1:20 scale model that has already been made.
