Originally established as the seat of the British colonial government, Victoria is the smallest capital city in the World, situated on the main Seychelles island of Mahe. Serving as the only major port of this island nation, Victoria facilitates large quantities of exports of vanilla, coconuts, soap, fish and guano. A major local industry around tuna fishing and canning is located within an inner harbor to the east of town, Victoria City is also home to a national stadium, a polytechnic institute and an international school.
Other tourist attractions of Victoria City include the courthouse, a clock tower, a Natural History Museum, the Botanical Gardens and the National Museum of History. The Victoria market, which is a local hotspot for the residents, displays a variety of brightly colored fishes and fruits. Served by the Seychelles International Airport at a distance of 11 kilometers to the southeast, Victoria is the main gateway for your Seychelles holiday tour.
