Veraval is a port town that is located in the district of the state ofGujarat. The port town was of great importance and in its heydays, was one of the main ports along the coast. Veraval was the departure point for many Muslims who wished to travel to Mecca before the port of was opened. The town still has many of its old buildings and boasts of a rich cultural heritage as well. It was once a fortified town and was the home of the royal family. There are many old palaces that are located in the town and the Summer Palace of the Nawabs is one if the main attractions of the place. Tourists flock to witness this exquisite feat of architecture. Near the palace, the ruins of the old fort can still be seen today and the gates of the fort which are impressive are still standing. However they are in a bad state due to lack of maintenance. The and the are the main entrances of the fort. Veraval also has long stretch of beaches that are uninhabited and are free of tourists. Only a small portion of the stretch has been made commercial.

By Air : The closest airport is located at Rajkot and this airport is connected to the city of Mumbai by a daily flight. This is a viable option if you are arriving from air. Mumbai International Airport is located around 327 km from the town and taxis are available from here to the town. Taxis charge around Rs 7 per km for sedans and Rs 12 per km for SUVs.

By Train : Veraval Railway Station is an important station in the state and it is well connected to places such as Rajkot, Ahmadabad, Bhopal, Ujjain, Pune, Vadodara, Mumbai, Trivandrum and Jabalpur. Trains are the easiest mode of transport and are extremely comfortable. One can opt for A/C 2 tier or A/C 3 tier compartments as well. Auto rickshaws are available from the station to the city center.

By Bus : State buses in Gujarat ply from different places in the state to the town and they are a cheap mode of transport. Most of the nearby cities and towns, along with the major cities in the state, are connected to Veraval by buses.
