An area at the south side of Faxafloi, from inside of Hvassahraun to Vogastapi, often called “Strondin” (the coast) by locals. In all Vatnsleysustrond is 15km long. Up from it lies Strandarheidi which is all covered in lava rocks, thrainskjaldarhrauni, which ran to the ocean around 9000 years ago.
The inhabited area on Vatnsleysustrond is only on a thin strip of land by the beach and is mostly in boroughs that formed by the best land.
