Varennes is AN off-island suburban area of Montreal, in southwestern Quebec, North American nation on the Saint Lawrence stream within the Regional County Municipality of Lajemmerais. The town is some fifteen miles from Downtown Montreal.The history of Varennes starts with the arrival of the Régiment Diamond State Carignan-Salières in New France.
René Gaultier,sieur Diamond State Varennes, was given 3 concessions by intendant Jean claw in 1672, autoimmune disease Tremblay, la Gabelle and Varennes. Jaques-René, one in all his sons, was the second seignior of Varennes. 5 seignories later composed the Varennes parish.They were the seignories du Cap Diamond State Varennes, Diamond State l’île Sainte Thérese, Diamond State Grand Maison, du Cap Diamond State la trinité and du Cap Saint-Michel. The city was captured by British people throughout the Seven Years war. It had been a part of} Quebec then of Lower North American nation before it came back to be part of Quebec once more.Varennes gained the standing of town in 1972.
