Hotel Description:Vaamika Island is a seven-acre private island retreat with five villas in the backwaters of Kochi, Kerala. For ten years, our design team traversed Gods Own Country sourcing and restoring centuries old Kerala houses and relocating these historic homes to our island. No two residences are the same on the island, however each room has one common design motif- to accentuate the unique history of each heritage home and also the scenic views of the surrounding private canals, gardens and lake. Our two marquee residences- High Noon and Sunrise Villas sit on secluded independent islets with a private boat jetty, massage pavilion, infinity pool, garden area and butler service. The island houses Klaus Schleusener’s vast collection of South Indian sculptures, coins and antiques in a custom-built lakefront museum. Designed by German architect Hans-Peter Gresser, the museum is an ideal setting for bespoke group celebrations and intimate private dining.DINEThe perfect dish demands fresh ingredients- that is why we grow as much of our vegetables, fruits and spices as possible on the island. Our fertile soil produces juicy tomatoes, mangoes, bananas, zucchinis and cucumbers as well as spinach, cashew and basil – always under the careful maintenance of our gardeners. Most of the fish and prawns we serve are caught in the lake surrounding the island by local fishermen, or even from our own lagoon on the island. Our guests are welcome to do their own fishing with a net or by hook (or by hand for the adventurous).Dine wherever you like: breakfast by your pool or at the picturesque water lily pond.
