The University of the Andes (UANDES) is a private institution located at 2,200 San Carlos de Apoquindo Ave., Santiago, Chile. Along with 16 undergraduate programs, the University has a business school known as ESE, Business School. Soon the University of the Andes plans to initiate the construction of a University Hospital. The Medical School is well renown in the country. It always ranks among the first places on the National Medical Exam, which is taken every year by recent graduated medical students.
The Christian formation offered at the University is entrusted to the Catholic Prelature of Opus Dei. The University of the Andes was founded on September 8, 1989. Its first campus was located in Bustamante Avenue, Providencia, Chile. In 1990 the School of Law opened, followed the next year by the Philosophy School and the Medical School (the first among Chilean private universities). At present the Medical School is one of the best professional schools in Chile, according to yearly press surveys and the National Medical Exam results for the last six years.
