The University of Houston–Downtown (UHD) could be a four-year state university, and could be a distinct element establishment of the University of Houston System. Its field spans 20-acre in Downtown Houston, with a satellite location in northwestern Harris County. Based in 1974, UHD is that the second-largest university in Houston with nearly thirteen,000 students. The university serves students in four tutorial faculties. UHD offers nearly fifty degree programs: forty five bachelors and 4 masters. Subsidization over two,400 degrees annually, the university’s alumni base is almost thirty,000.
Recognizing the necessity for a university presence in Downtown Houston, the Board of Regents of the University of Houston noninheritable the assets of South Lone-Star State college on August 6, 1974 then opened the University of Houston–Downtown school (UH/DC) as a four-year establishment below the organization and management of the University of Houston. By August 1979, it became a complete university once the 66th Lone-Star State legislative assembly established UH/DC as a separate and distinct establishment within the University of Houston System.
