The Ulysses S. Grant place mineral, Illinois is that the former home of Ulysses S. Grant, the war General and later eighteenth President of the us. The house was given to Grant by residents of mineral as thanks for his war service in 1865, and has been maintained as a memorial to Grant since 1904. The house was made in 1859 – 1860 and designed by William Dennison. The house was selected a National Historic Landmark on Dec nineteen, 1960 and supplementary to the National Register of Historic Places upon its origin in 1966.
The house was designed within the Italianate vogue by William Dennison. Typical of buildings wiped out that vogue, the house featured well outlined rectangular shapes, a roof with an occasional pitch, balustraded balconies extending out over lined porches, and protruding overhang.The Illinois Historic Preservation Agency operates the Grant Home as a historic house repository with rooms outfitted to represent a mid-1860s look.
