Ulaangom is the capital city of the province named Uvs in Mongolia. It is situated at a distance of 26 km from the lake Uvs Nuur. The Russian border is 120 kms away from this city. This city is located on the slopes of the famous Kharkhorin Mountains. The entire city is divided into two major partitions named the Uliasny Khev and Chandmani. It is believed that this city, Ulaangom was founded in the year 1686. The Dechinravjaa Monastery was erected in the year 1871 and it stands as a mark of foundation of this city. Ulaangom city has many monuments which come from the era of communists like the monument of Yumjaagiin Tsedenbal. This man had led the country for forty years. The climate of Ulaangom is semi arid. It has winter which is very cold and summers which are warm. Ulaangom is categorized as one of the cold cities of Mongolia.
