Tunganath is an ancient temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is the highest temple by altitude of land of lord Shiva. Tungnath is the second temple in the circuit of Panch Kedar. It is located in the Rudraprayag district. Tungnath means the lord of the peaks. Shiva’s arms are worshipped in Tungnath. Tungnath is the highest Shiva temple in the world and is one of the five and the highest Panch Kedar temples located in the mountain range of Tunganath in Rudraprayag district, in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Though the trekking route is covered with brawny stones, the marvelous view of the highly embellished meandering pastures makes ones trek an awe inspiring one. As the trek progresses the meadows would make their way to pink, white and mauve Rhododendrons. Literally Tungnath is the lord of the peak, a name suits to its impressive appearance. At this spectacular site where the highest temple in the subcontinent awaits with its blissful looks, one can experience the never ending sizzles of Mother Nature in is full piety. By Air : The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, which is about 232 km from Tungnath. Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is a domestic airport located at about 20 km away from city center of Dehradun. Taxi cabs are available from Dehradun airport to Tungnath (up to Chopta, at distance of 3.5 km from Tungnath), which cost about Rs 4,000. The airport operates daily flights to Delhi. Nearest International airport is Delhi.

By Train : The nearest railhead is at Rishikesh which is about 215 km away from Tungnath. Trains are available from Rishikesh to other major cities in India.

By Bus : It requires about 3.5 km trek from Chopta to reach the holy hilly place Tungnath. Chopta is accessible through road transport like cars and buses from Rishikesh through Chamoli and Rudraprayag. It is also reachable from Ukhimath (about 30 km from Chopta) on the Badrinath – Kedarnath route.
