Detail InformationEdit
The Art Museum in Tukums is renowned for its outstanding collection, started in the early 1930s by artist Leonards Āriņš. Inspired by him, many notable Latvian artists of the first half of the 20th century donated their works to the museum.
The museum collection includes the works by Janis Rozentāls, Vilhelms Purvītis, Jānis Valters, Romans Suta, Jēkabs Kazaks, Ģederts Eliass, Valdemārs Tone, Leo Svemps, Konrāds Ubāns, Eduards Kalniņš, Jāni Tīdemanis, Rūdolfs Pinnis, Jānis Pauļuks, and a number of other Latvian painters. The largest collections are those of works by Tukums-born artists Leonīds Āriņš, Ansis Artums and Kārlis Neiļs. Paintings can be viewed both at the exhibitions and, by a special arrangement, in the depository. For over a decade, the museum offer includes “Let’s copy a painting” programmes for children and adults. All you need is to take a sheet of paper and crayons, sit down at the easel, and start drawing.
