Tuktoyaktuk, or Tuktuyaaqtuuq, is AN Inuvialuit hamlet placed within the Inuvik Region of the district, Canada. Usually mentioned just by its 1st linguistic unit, Tuk, the settlement lies north of the Arctic Circle on the shore of the Arctic Ocean. At one time called Port Brabant, the community was renamed in 1950 and was the primary place in North American country to revert to the normal Native name. Several locals stalk, fish, and trap. Locals admit cervid within the time of year, ducks and geese in each spring and time of year, and fishing year-around. Other activities include collecting driftwood, caribou herding, and berrypicking. Most wages nowadays, however, return from touristry and transportation. Northern company restricted (NTCL) may be a major leader during this region. Additionally, the oil and gas trade continues to use explorers and different employees.
Tuktoyaktuk is that the gateway for exploring Pingo National Landmark, a part protective eight close pingos in a very region that contains some one,350 of those Arctic ice-dome hills. The landmark includes a part roughly sixteen km2 (6.2 sq mi), just a couple of miles west of the community, and includes Canada’s highest (the World’s second-highest) pingo, at 49 m (161 ft). It’s managed by Parks North American country at intervals the park system, and, although a nationwide Landmarks program was envisioned, Pingo remains the country’s solely National Landmark.
