Trinity graveyard was supported on Christian holy day (20 June) in 1869 because the initial graveyard of the Roman Catholic jurisdiction of Erie. It’s situated on West Lake Road in Erie, Pennsylvania. The parish cemeteries of Creator and St. Stanislaus were incorporated into Trinity graveyard.
The earliest acknowledged Catholic graveyard in Erie was onto land purchased on East ninth Street in 1837 and consecrated thereto purpose on two August 1840. A website on Chestnut Street was noninheritable by the pastor of St. Mary’s Church in 1848 and utilized by German Catholics. Remains were settled from the East ninth Street {cemetery|graveyard|burial website|burial ground|burying ground|memorial park|necropolis|site|land site} to the Chestnut Street site throughout this era. The Chestnut Street graveyard was closed to new interments once Trinity graveyard opened in 1869.
Circa 1837, St. Patrick’s Church purchased atiny low ton on third Street between German Street and Parade Street as its initial graveyard. Once five acres (20,000 m square) were noninheritable in 1852 at twenty fourth Street and Sassafras Street, the congregation moved remains from Third Street to the new website. This graveyard was closed to new interments and plenty of bodies settled to Trinity graveyard when it opened. As of 1884, some families had refused consent for the bodies of wanted ones to be settled.
Trinity graveyard, consisting of thirty acres (120,000 m square) of equipped walks, driveways, and decorative trees and situated regarding four miles (6.4 km) west of the town, was dedicated on twenty three might 1869 in an exceedingly consecration ceremony conducted by representatives of the jurisdiction and space parishes and witnessed by thousands of native space residents. Bishop Tobias Mullen and a number of native priesthood processed from eighth Street to the graveyard that Sunday afternoon.
