Trinidad Jesuit Ruins or the La Santisima Trinidad del Parana, are one of the most well-preserved ruins and among the top-most popular historical sites in Paraguay. Recognized as the World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the Jesuits built these missions while travelling here from Spain, which are believed to date back in the early 1700’s. In the 1900s, these ruins were hidden by the thick jungle, which is why these were well protected and preserved. Tourists will find magnificent decorations on the columns and arches, displaying the architecture of olden times which are worth watching.
These ruins are one of the last eight missions constructed in Paraguay, which was built with red stones and is the largest of all the Paraguayan Jesuit Reductions. Housed inside is the largest temple, which has an beautiful alter, which was carved from a large single piece of stone. The Trinidad Jesuit Ruins in Paraguay, was considered as one of the most important missions of the region.
