Trinchera Fortress is an archeological site in Perú located in Patambuco area of Puno region.The fortress is located one hour walking from the village of Patambuco. It stands at the top of the mountain at an elevation of 13,779 feet (4,200 meters) above sea level.In the interior of the fortress are located habitational complex for approximately 500 people. The total area of Trinchera fortress is approximately 120,000 square meters.

Recent studies :
The fortress was studied by Peruvian archeologist Ricardo Conde Villavicencio and Italian researcher Yuri Leveratto in 2010. According to the archeologist Ricardo Conde Villavicencio this structure was built after the Tiahuanaco era, c. 1300 BC. Ricardo Conde Villavicencio suggest that the population of Trinchera could have reached 1500 people.
