It is said that a famous ascetic Sage Bam Bam Baba had marked this place for his penance. The place becomes much sought after by travelers and pilgrims during the month of Shravan or the monsoon season when Lord Shiva is worshipped with wood apple leaves that are found in abundance on the hill. Thereby this place is also known as the Garden of Shiva, due to the abundance of wood apples. The beauty of the place and the hill gets enhanced with river Mayurakshi having its point of origin.
