Traun is the fourth largest town in Upper Austria. It lies on the northern bank of the Traun River and bordered to the east of the city of Linz.
The name “”Traun”” comes from the Celtic word for “”river”” from. Excavation findings suggesting that the first settlements include the Neolithic period, which led to the Roman road from catfish to Lorch. In the 6th Century. can be “”Bavaria”” down in the area Trauner. The picturesque small town at the Water Tower Traun (first mentioned in the 12th century.) Is based on fishing and milling. By 1900, industrial development take place, initially for the manufacture of paper. Later came weaving and dyeing. After the 2nd World War erratic population growth through immigration and resettlement of displaced home by being close to Linz (migration from and into the countryside). The city’s largest collection of the former village of Austria took place on 21 Held in May 1973.
