Torrey may be a city placed on State Route twenty four in Wayne County, Utah, eight miles from Capitol Reef park. As of the 2000 census, the city had a complete population of 171.
The city was established within the Eighties by Mormon settlers, and was at the start called Youngtown, once John Willard Young; it’s typically control to be named once Jay L. Torrey from town, Illinois. Torrey was a member of the Equality State legislative assembly, who, upon the appearance of the warfare, achieved national attention by proposing the creation of what became 3 volunteer cavalry regiments, created of cowboys and stockmen. Torrey was commissioned commissioned military officer of the 2d Regiment, the “Rocky Mountain Riders”; the first Regiment, the sole regiment to examine action, was higher called the Rough Riders.
