Torrey could be a city situated on State Route twenty four in Wayne County, Utah, eight miles from Capitol Reef park. As of the 2000 census, the city had a complete population of 171.
The town was established within the 1880s by Mormon settlers, and was initially referred to as Youngtown, when John Willard Young; it’s usually control to be named when Jay L. Torrey from Old Colony, Illinois. Torrey was a member of the Wyoming general assembly, who, upon the arrival of the war, achieved national attention by proposing the creation of what became 3 volunteer cavalry regiments, created from cowboys and stockmen. Torrey was commissioned commissioned military officer of the ordinal Regiment, the “Rocky Mountain Riders”; the first Regiment, the sole regiment to envision action, was higher referred to as the Rough Riders.
