Detail InformationEdit

The Church of the Sepulchre of Saint Mary informally known the Tomb of the Virgin Mary refers to an enshrined empty Christian tomb located in the Kidron Valley, on the foothills of Mount of Olives, just outside Jerusalem, Israel. It is regarded as the burial place of Mary, the mother of Jesus by many Eastern Christians and is traditionally the place associated where the Dormition of the Theotokos, along with a belief that the cincture of the Virgin Mary was left behind and ultimately the site of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary into Heaven.
Throughout the centuries, various Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox saints have attested to its religious authenticity, citing the tomb as the Sepulchre of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The shrine remains contra-distinct to the House of the Virgin Mary located near Ephesus, Turkey.
