Tirap is a district that is located in the town of Arunachal Pradesh. The region is located along the border of Myanmar. The region of Tirap is covered with many forests and hills and the River Tirap flows through the district as well. The district is home to many indigenous tribes and some of them have migrated from neighboring Myanmar as well. One can witness many festivals and fairs in this region and these are colorful. Some of the main festivals in the region are Loku, Ojiyele, Pongtu, Wancho and Tutsa.The festival of Durga Pooja is also celebrated in this region as there is a significant Hindu population in the region. One has to be careful while visiting the region as the border areas of the district are prone to militancy. However despite this threat, tourism is beginning to increase in the region. The main attraction of the place is the folk culture and the uniqueness of tribal life and many travelers visit the place to witness this phenomenon.

Tirap is the second smallest district of Arunachal Pradesh. The administrative headquarter of the district is located at Khonsa. Tirap is the only district of Arunachal Pradesh on the southern bank of Brahmaputra river. One can also visit the Namdapha Tiger Reserve which is located nearby. The Lake of No Return is one of the main places of interest in the town of Tirap.

By Air : The closest airport is located at Dibrugarh. The airport is connected by scheduled flights to the city of Guwahati. There are flights from Kolkata, Itanagar and Nahaar Lagun to Dibrugarh as well. One can reach the town of Khonsa from Dibrugarh easily as there are many taxis that are available outside the airport. They charge Rs 7 per km for a small car such as Tata Indica.
By Train : There are no rail services in the district of Tirap and the closest railheads are located in the state of Assam. There are rail services to places such as Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, and Naharkatia. Taxis are available from all these places to the town of Khonsa.
By Bus : State Government buses are available from places such as Tinsukia and Dibrugarh to the town of Khosa. These are frequent and depart every day. Buses are cheap and they cost between Rs 100 and Rs 200. However they are not well maintained and one has to sacrifice comfort while opting for these buses.
