The small village of Tipova is located at a distance of 100 km north of Chisinau. The Tipova Monastery is Eastern Europe’s oldest and largest monastery. The ancient monastery located along the banks of Nistru River and was established in 8th century BC. According to the legends, the famous ruler of Moldova Stefan the Great got married to his wife Maria Voichita at this monastery.
As-of-now the Tipova Cave Monastery attracts thousands of tourists and pilgrims alike because of its historical and religious significance. Besides this, the village is rich in natural beauty and offers visitors with densely forested hills having narrow paths. From the hills river Dniester flows and forms breathtaking waterfalls along its course.
