Built in 1915, the Thorofare patrol cabin is twenty seven.8 feet (L), 15.5 feet (W), and 12.5 feet (H) and consists of 2 rooms. The saddle notched log walls accommodates logs that live 10-12 inches in diameter at the butt. The gaps between the logs have mortar and lodgepole pine joggle chinking on the outside. The roof extends out 10 feet to make a lined structure with a wood deck and support posts at every corner. The gable ends ar a continuation of the log walls from below and ar cut in an exceedingly descendant pattern from sill log to roofline.
Located in remote elements of the park that ar accessible solely by foot and horseback, these cabins function welcome refuges for crews wherever they will rest and obtain out of the cold, rain, and snow.
