Detail InformationEdit

The State Archives is the building which was raised at the end of the 19th century for the purpose of the court. At present the building is the headquarters of the State Archives in Suwałki. The State Archives in Suwałki faced many local problems for years – since the moment of its creation. It was situated in the court buildings on Kościuszki Street. Although a number of rooms was gradually growing, there still was not enought room to provide the records, workers and users with appropriate conditions. The longterm efforts finally brought a radical change.
Since 2000 the State Archives in Suwałki has been situated in the place adopted to its needs – in the past-court edifice of enormous size on the main Suwałki street (Kościuszki Street 69). In this way the records have been secured with adequate conditions for their storage and the users can use the archives comfortably. Thanks to these local conditions the State Archives tries not only to carry out the popularization and training activites but it also makes a beautiful and representative hall accessible to conferences, exhibitions and concerts.
