The Sheldon hall in St. Louis, Missouri was designed by noted 1904 World’s honest creator gladiator C. Spiering and inbuilt 1912 because the home of the moral Society of St. Louis. Musicians and public speakers throughout the years have enjoyed the proper acoustics of the Sheldon hall, earning The Sheldon its name as “The Carnegie Hall of St. Louis”. Well-known singers and ensembles have performed at The Sheldon, and speakers like Albert Einstein, Dwight Eisenhower and writer have spoken from its stage. The St. Gladiator Chapter of the League of girls Voters was supported within the Sheldon’s inexperienced space.
When the moral Society settled to St. Gladiator County in 1964, The Sheldon became primarily a music venue. Then, in 1974, a former singer with the Duke Ellington Orchestra purchased the ability, remodeling The Sheldon into a church and also the website for several jazz and gospel concerts. A Golden State professional with a love for serious music purchased the building in 1984 at the urging of the violinist quartette. He engaged director F. Gunn to revive the building and upon completion Gunn began operational The Sheldon in 1986 as a venue for concerts and community events.
