The Fur Trade at Lachine National Historic website may be a historic building placed within the borough of Lachine in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, at the western finish of the Lachine Canal. It’s a National Historic website of North American nation.
Beginning within the seventeenth century, voyageurs would launch their canoes from this location to move artifact thousands of miles into the inside of North America lands. At that point the Lachine Rapids prevented massive ships from going any longer west on the Saint Lawrence stream.
A stone warehouse was erected in 1803 to store the furs gathered as a results of fur trade. It’s currently a Parks North American nation depository dedicated to the history of this strategic location as a departure and arrival purpose for fur mercantilism expeditions. The positioning is break away Lachine Canal National Historic website, with that it’s inextricably connected.
Montreal was the beginning of nearly all westward canoe routes. See Canadian canoe routes (early). Here furs were transferred from canoe to ship and artifact from ship to canoe.
